Notes About The Poem

Tribute- To A Poetrysoup Poet Who Has Passed Or A Missing Poet Poetry Contest

Searching For You

As I made my way through the shadowy forest of doubt,
I had the most unusual dreamlike thoughts.

A poem I loved, Carolyn's last poem.   So beautiful and full of emotion.

Tribute to Carolyn Devonshire

"Death gives us sleep, eternal youth, and immortality." — Jean Paul Richter

It has been stamped in my mind
The day you caught that red grouper
     On Memorial Day in Florida.

Dear Carolyn, how can I forget
The kindness you always showed me
Although we lived so far away,
You in USA and I in Malta
Thousands of miles away.

Your last contest entry so sad.
It is a tribute on its own.
How can I ever forget
Your last soup mail,
          Informing me that you were
Going to hospice to die there.

     I trembled in fear until
I read that a week later
     You were cremated
And your ashes spread over the ocean
That ocean you loved so much.

Now after so many years,
You are still my favorite poet.
And occasionally I search
And read your precious poems
All over again.
They are now written in Heaven.

Absolutely gorgeous tribute of an outstandingly generous woman. Sad to say, the month before she passed, I had been calling her but when she went to hospice I could not reach her and then too late, I realized that she had not received my messages because they were going not to her cell phone but to her landline. I felt so sad about that and her maybe thinking I had deserted her. Oh my . This is a fave

Aww this made me emotional, what a beautiful and heartfelt tribute this is dear Victor. Sigh. I am not sure how I would react to losing any poets here right now on soup ~ so supportive and kind, Your poem shows how you appreciate them so very genuinely. Pleasure reading you today ~ sending you light always

Your "Tribute To Carolyn Devonshire" is a very touching tribute. I talked with her up to the end. She did pass at home. She lived her Florida life with the sea. She helped me so much in my early days here on Soup. She was one-of-a-kind. I still miss her. "Good Luck" I also did this contest. Thanks for reading the one I wrote about her.  I have a ton of work to do after being gone for 2 weeks. Have a blessed day/weekend writing away...............

A touching tribute, dear Victor. I haven't read her poems nor know her. But from the two tributes, I have already read on her , I assume, she must have been a genial soul, lovable and gifted.
