Travelling Light
When I arrived, I came empty handed,
before I knew about things to own.
And slowly I learned about possessions,
some that matter and some that don't.
Those that carry heavy burdens,
and those that are pleasantly given.
I realized one day, as I felt a light breeze,
winds could teach me how to travel with ease.
Then I saw a bird fly like a plane,
but it didn't carry a load on its wings.
And the sun arriving at the stroke of dawn,
comes weightless with the rays it brings.
And a mother's kiss travels untold miles,
on air filled with hugs and kisses.
When a dear friend calls from faraway land,
her voice travels like a ripple in a pond.
When I turn my light-switch on,
light fills my home without a sound.
And the air I breathe travels so light,
pulsating endlessly, to keep me alive.
And the gaze I send to love of my life,
travels like air to reach her smile.
So I will return just the way I arrived,
because the road to heaven travels light.
