I guess I should write a poem today While time hangs still and palm trees sway While birds circle and cry their lonely dismay And the seas glisten with the sand they swept away I guess I should write a poem today While lightning crashes in thunderous display And dark skies rise, and rain clouds weigh The doom in the air, and the loss of day I think I will write a poem today Perhaps for the mermaids who defy the gray Giving the colors of now to a world in delay And a rainbow of suns to the life of a ray When the storm surrounds me, "Dear God," I pray, "Let a mermaid cross my path today." 5/25/18

Indeed.. For the mermaids! I adore this alluring and delightful poem, Michelle. Your artistry never fails to take my breath away; "And the seas glisten with the sand they swept away" and "And dark skies rise, and rain clouds weigh / The doom in the air, and the loss of day" - pure magic! I'm swept away! Congratulations, my sweet friend, for your excellent win in William's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan
