To You, Woman
If there is some mystic force
behind the cosmos,
be it God or Gods or Fates,
we certainly were
created in their image,
as they seem to be right
at the same 50/50 rate as ourselves.
They got it wrong with rape
They got it wrong with war
They got it wrong with politics
They got it wrong with the music industry
They got it wrong with pimps
They got it wrong with critics
They got it wrong with logging
They got it wrong with the infrastructure of society
They got it wrong with artists who don't have it anymore
They got it right with quiet afternoons
watching the rain and the snow
They got it right with the joyous look
in a puppy's eyes
They got it right with Mozart and Beethoven
They got it right with artists who leave at their peak
They got it right with the female form
They got it right
and they got it wrong
with love
Most of all,
they got it right
with the way your hair
folds over your face when you lay down
like a silk veil.
There resides a great treasure
that is revealed every time I lift it.
The one ingenious masterpiece
that even makes me
want to love me
so I can watch it
forever;
makes all the wrongs
more bearable.
