Ah, it's my clinging to the image of who I might have been that distracts and torments me!” Fernando Pessoa Regret, a silent symphony, plays within you, Notes of remorse, haunting, relentless sway. You seek forgiveness, yet the chords begin anew. The echo louder, a burden unspent, weigh Melodies of might-have-been, soft and sharp, Clashing in your heart, an eternal fray. Forgotten harmonies, in minor, warp, Entwining past deeds with the strings of strife, Each note's ghostly finger, your soul to carp. The pensive dance of what-ifs cuts like a knife, A twilight of tunes, dusk's mournful choir, Lament of time's lost, the cost of your life. Yet, within dissonance, hope may inspire, New refrains rise from the depths of your remorse, Harmony is found as you reach higher. From silent regret, you chart a new course, The symphony softens, your mind's concert clears, In the quiet, you find a gentle force. Unchecked, the music of the heart appears, Regret's symphony, a lesson, not a chain, A prelude to peace composed by your tears!

"From silent regret, you chart a new course, The symphony softens, your mind's concert clears, In the quiet, you find a gentle force." Instead of nursing the pain of regret of not reaching the heights expected, or the goals unachieved, there is the resolution to begin anew and have a fresh start. Your poem is so gripping and the diction is mellifluous. Enjoyed reading your lovely poem. Hearty Congratulations Sara on your well deserved win.

thanks for your visit, dear Valsa, and for your insightful words.I agree 'nursing' or clinging to pain is self destructive. Youre' right. Reflecting upon it and beginning anew is a form of self care. Thanks, too, for your congratulatory words. Wishing you a splendid day, hugs, Sara

Congratulations Sara, nicely expressed, and it looks nice on the "page". I guess looking backward, regret can be harmful, but when looking forward, it can be helpful to chart a new course.

thank you for your congratulatory words, David. I agree. Regret can be harmful if we endlessly cling to it. Reflecting upon our regrets, though, can give us insights and wisdom. Appreciate your thoughts; have a great day, Sara

A meaningful discourse, Sara. Burdens cause turmoil in life as you so well illustrate--the positive turn in the ending lines are quite rewarding.

Dear Sara, The path to forgiveness and acceptance when confronted with regret is beautifully explored in your poetry. It portrays sorrow as a spectral symphony that echoes in the soul, capturing its complex and heavy essence. Using terms like "remorse," "haunting," "relentless," "forgiveness," "burden," and "dissonance" conjures up images of inner anguish and the emotional turbulence that results from regret. Your poetry gains depth and complexity via the use of musical phrases such as "chords," "melodies," "harmonies," and "refrains" to amplify the image of sorrow as a symphony.

So many things have hurt us deep in our hearts. Cost us our peace and quiet. "A prelude to peace composed by your tears!" We hold on to our tears because they make the healing salty and faster when there's none to let out again.

Dear Sara, I believe you have really captured the sentiments of Pessoa's poignant quote. The regret you show is a powerful portrayal of the inner turmoil we face when grappling with what could have been. I loved how your haunting melodies of remorse tug at the soul, yet within their dissonance lies the potential for growth and renewal. Yes, for regret is not a stagnant pool but a flowing river, guiding us towards acceptance and the possibility of a brighter future. A Fav!- Blessings, Daniel
