To My Father

My last words to you were, "I love you." Those were your last words to me on the phone. You were in Miami. The night we spoke you were rushed to the hospital. Your life was no more. The Angels carried you to a much better place than this Earth could ever give you. I remember when you bought my first bike, and I was afraid to ride. It was my first time, riding and you gently pushed and I started to peddle. Wow what a Joy that was. Me and my father, enjoying a moment of triumph. My Dear Father I missed you today. I still can't believe you slipped away. Your caring voice on the telephone. To always make sure I made it home. Your sound advice you always shared. In each word said you deeply cared. Your three sons are thinking of you. Friends and family, they are too. Your presence now is what I feel. You're not forgotten. You're here and real. Your last words to me I shall not forget, "I love you son." Is what you said. The memories of you will always be. Inside my heart in every beat. Until our paths will meet again. This heartfelt love to You I send. Michael Tor in memory of my dad Rene. June 8th 1938- September 26th 2021. Sons Gaston, Gus, and Michael. Grandaughters and grandson Ashley, Brandon, and Briana, Taylor, and Jordan.

A warm and heartwarming tribute, Michael. That is the difficult price to pay for loving relationships. They come to an end. It's a tragic loss... On the other hand, we hear of so many people who were not so lucky to have loving relationships... That's when we start realizing that we must take the good with the bad. It hurts but in the end the loving relationship is the treasure that remains in our heart.

Vince so sorry to hear of your Loss. I am certain your dad was a wonderful dad. You have been on the Soup for many years. I remember you in 2006 you were one of my favorites to read. I didn't comment much back then or wrote but I read. I remember all the old poets that have disappeared. Raul Moreno, Michael Jordan, John Rhimen, and you of course. You use to write a lot. I can recall your Patriotic Poetry that stands out in my mind. Your poetry about the good old days. You are very talented and I always loved your themes they were always so special to read. Your father, a very talented man "The Regan Sculpture" and wonderful father, Michael. A heart-felt tribute to your dad. I remember the Baccarat cigars my dad smoked, I would take the ring (wrap) and put them on my fingers. Little things you recall. Yes he loved art and he painted and did sculptures, they were so perfect they look like paintings on wood. A great man he was very humble and caring toward others. So sorry to hear he was mentally ill Andrea. Yes there was a reason he couldn't help being himself because of that disease. It was not by his choice, unfortunately it did have an effect on your relationship with him again very sorry to hear this. An understanding daughter you were dealing with his condition. You smell the Tobacco, I have my dads Letter from President Reagan thanking him for the Sculpture he did of him, which is hanging in the Reagan Library. Gershon your words touched me my friend. Yes we will be reunited someday with our love ones. I encourage everyone who has a living parent to enjoy their company as much as possible, because when they depart it is tragic and it leaves you with a void in your heart that overwhelms you. You think back on what you would have done differently, what you failed to share that you didn't, or a question you might have had. Life is precious and the most precious moments are spent with your parents, your children, and the people you love in this world. Enjoy their company as much as possible.

Yes Alexis it is a year since he passed yesterday on the 26th. I am so sorry for your dad's passing. It is also evident the love you have for your father. We are thankful for the times we shared with our parents.
