Tired When Retired

If you’re tired when retired You have just yourself to blame, For the stresses of employment You no longer get to claim. How you manage all your hours Is within your own control, Whether sloth or not-a-minute- To-yourself’s become your goal. In your former life, exhaustion Was a reason they’d accept If you bailed on friends or family And instead, stayed home and slept. But without those work excuses, Face the facts, though it seems cold - If you’re tired when retired, It just means you’re getting old!

Good one, Ilene. I started trying to retire in 2003. It lasted about four months! I was virtually climbing the walls with so much time on my hands. With the help of COVID-19, I finally managed to retire completely in 2020. I sometimes miss some of the people I worked with, but not the working itself.

More to do now than then - less stressful perhaps. Swim with the sharks - they're always on the move :) Linda

Seniors who don't go for a walk everyday are rewarded with constipation, so one must keep the system moving or it falls apart. Enjoyed, Ilene! Aloha! (the captcha code is JAB?)

Ah, so true, Ilene. I believe I was tired when I retired, but I put on my new britches, hiked up the pants legs and plunged forward into my new life. It has been, and continues to be, enormously rewarding.
