Time of Reflection

As our days rush like a swollen river we gather the days of our memories in quiet evenings of beautiful sunsets and soft breezes that caress your hair words spill warmly upon ears which listen intently some from times unattended some from times of love shared some from both realms filled with laughter Could that this solitude of love lived fill the mirror of our days with smiles of reflections entwined around our life and love as we grow older through warm graying years understanding the years end in a time of tears when like leaves we turn brown and wrinkled before falling into the Earth beneath an etched stone covered in plucked flowers In my cowardice, I pray to be first In my love, I pray not So I may carry the pain of aloneness and you may rest With memories of our love shared and nurtured well when we sat and talked about everything and nothing 8/16/20
