Time Flew
When I was very young it seemed
Time took forever, as did our dreams.
From one birthday in party dress,
it took years till the next Christmas.
Hurry up, I'd say to Time,
You're lagging way too far behind.
Then, as I grew, it seemed
I'd never grow beyond my teens.
But then as thirty showed its face,
I thought perhaps Time shouldn't race.
Forty and fifty flew right on by
Where did they go, I'd often cry.
The years have gone and won't return.
Why do we take so long to learn
that days and hours, minutes fly.
We can't catch them, no need to try.
I don't wish for Fridays now,
just trips through memories to endow.
I say to those rushing days too fast
slow down they'll, tomorrow, be your past.
