Time

My how time drags when we ain't havin' fun, And yet seems to fly like a child on the run, Whene'er we're at play or just lolling about, Seems like no time at all and our time has run out. Seems when we have time and our day's bright and sunny, Our coffers are bare and we ain't got no money; And when we got money and we're feelin' fine, We got too much work and we ain't got no time. When we're at work or we're laid up in bed, When we're sick and we're tired and our life's filled with dread, Time seems to drag, each day lasts a year, As we lay there and moan with our eyes filled with tears. Would that it would slow, let the fun last awhile, And speed up 'stead of slow when we can't find our smile; But that's just the way life is my friend. It's a mixture of fun and pain in the end.

We are children of time which can be our best friend or our worst enemy. It seems to run fast or to stand still although its speed is constant. We may love it or hate it but indifferent it remains for the voice of destiny only it hears. Great quatrain my dear Judy with profound messages.

A thought-provoking poem, Judy, and I love the way you explain the paradox in the second verse. How true! It reminds me of the statement: "Youth is wasted on the young." Sometime when we feel we're spinning our wheels, we are actually making some progress. Love this poem!

I think you said it perfectly in this wonderful rhyming poem. Time can be a friend and an enemy it seems and it never stops, no matter how much we might like it to.

Hi Eve, Thanks so much for being first to review this for me. I'm a senior too. 69yrs. young as of the 14th of this month. Still working and going strong after being cured of cancer just recently. Getting stronger every day but get really tired now and then and need to rest. God is good though and has given me a strong constitution. God Bless, JB
