Time

“Your skin like dawn
Mine like musk

One paints the beginning
of a certain end.

The other, the end of a
sure beginning.”

Passing Time: Poem by Maya Angelou

Harkening all the way back to the origin of time
I ponder conjectures about the theory of Big Bang--
A moment that exploded into infinite expanse,

And I wonder if this ticking clock will ever stop
Collapsing on self into ashes of nothingness
Or will it keep stretching space on eternal path;

Its existence, compared to mine, incredibly vast--
I am just a speck of dust in its cosmic compass--
A spot on its continuum, born in recent past.

Living in my present I can easily retrace steps,
No theories are needed to ascertain my start;

And unlike this universe that goes on and on,
My end is as assured, as beginning of end was.

A highly profound and philosophical writing !As the grains of sand in an hour glass, time ticks away to eternity and our end is assured. No one can desist the ravages of time . Indeed an excellent write with much poetic beauty....

I think you meant Dusk not “Musk” ;0) I enjoyed the poem either way, plus the added chuckle. Blessings Rick.

Thank you Richard--much appreciate. That word-- musk --is a quote from Maya Angelo poem. She definitely means "musk"--you can look it up.

A very profound and philosophical poem in which are mirrored many ideas of past great minds like Plato and Heraclitus my dearest friend, Vijay! Time is the father of all and certainly doesn't let any " speck of dust " gone! for it uses it again and again as the world goes into or out of existence! Superb writing! Blessings my friend!

"No theories are needed".. You have your own theories, as time revolves around you.. You perceive and conceive time according to a rich vision, dipped into a deep meaningfulness and a wide awareness forged by all the precious time you have been able to mould for the welfare of your Self and Soul.. Genuine thoughts of enlightenment and powerful feelings of beauty! A great work to be not only in my fave list but highly recommend! So delighted to read, dear Vijay! Best regards and blessings.

Interesting verse Vijay, I often wonder about the big bang theory, with the universe expanding and when it stops will it contract, hopefully we won't be around to see it. Good luck in the contest. Tom

Always live each moment as though it were your last. It just might be. Also think on this, When we are dead and gone all that remains on this earth of us is the memory we leave behind. Will anyone want to remember us? Food for thought. Fine write here my friend. Makes one think. God Bless, JB
