You had finally agreed to be my bride, pale rose pink lipstick had been applied. You looked so radiant, I beamed with pride, as we joined hands I sat at your bedside. When we exchanged rings both of us cried, was a bitter sweet moment, it can’t be denied. An hour after our marriage had been certified, my tears cascaded, sadly my wife just died First Time Here - Any Monorhyme Poetry Contest Sponsored by William Kekaula Checked with rhyme zone 1/9/20

I knew someone this happened to. She was a dear friend and neighbor and only 19 years old. So sad for everyone but she died very happy. Your poem is moving and beautiful Jan. I think William will like it a lot, I know I do. xxoo

"bitter sweet moments"! The joys of Life.. the bites of fate! That's our destiny.. the wisdom and harmony of life dualities.. the core of our existence! You have just thrilled and surprised your reader as life and fate do! So sweet and heartfelt a work of fine poetry and an immense pleasure to read! My best regards and blessings, Jan.

What was that man's ring made of anyway?! Perhaps it was a 'ring of fire.' (Johnny Cash song, 1960's). Smiles, Gershon

Not so sad! Think of all the spats they missed by not discovering the other did not meet their expectations! ("Everything happens for the best!") Good luck in the contest! Aloha! Rico

How sad, Jan. A couple starts out on a new life together and it's cut short. Very beautiful monorhyme, my friend. Winning wishes coming your way! Hugs, Carolyn

What an awful circumstance, but your expressions are so tenderly written that it's only the beauty of the moment that I read. Nicely done, Jan.

Thanks for your lovely comment and advice too Lin, I find writing sad much easier than romance which you write so well, Need to start a limerick collaboration to lighten the mood a little, are you up for it?:-) hugs jan xx
