This poem written for What Makes Me Smile 2 poetry contest, Karen Jones, sponsor June 19, 2025.
Dawn’s first light spills through the open window,
a golden brushstroke across my face.
I smile, breathing in the promise of a new day.
Wind chimes dance in the morning breeze,
a gentle symphony echoing of newness and innocence.
I smile, reminding myself of the magic in simple moments.
Leaves rustle in the wind’s currents,
each flutter a gentle conversation between trees.
I smile, wandering through nature’s embrace.
In the day’s fading light, the sun dips low,
painting the sky in hues of orange and pink.
I smile, cradling the warmth of its glow.
In the stillness of night, stars twinkle like distant dreams
gracing the moonlit sky with God’s diamonds.
I smile, thanking Him for the little things that light up my life.
So here I stand, witnessing a tapestry of moments
weaving together the fabric of contentment and joy.
I smile, reflecting upon the threads that bind me to the beauty of being alive.
