Those Days Are Over, That Was Then This Is Now
Gagged, tied up with rope, tortured, mind and body
Threatened, silenced, left with only a promise I made
The mind shut things out, miraculously drew the curtain,
So that I could survive as a child in the darkest of times
I still played, and I still smiled, like other children
But, I lived in fear from those around me, daily
There was not one safe adult to turn to, not even police
My true voice was stolen, fiercely ripped away from me
But, that was then and this is now!
I am an adult, free to speak, free to feel, free to be me!
Free to let my feelings flow smoothly and cleansing
Free to say the words I was forbidden to say then
To tell my story, whenever and wherever I want
I am safe, I am secure, I am loved and I am grateful!
Time changes everything and I thank God…
For I have been given strength and now have freedom
- Those days are over! -
