This Path Leads To

My feet are too comfortable on this dirt path. A path that goes through so many landmarks. I see all forms of passion, pleasure, and joy. I greet the locals and stay at the inns. I sleep in their motels and forget about myself, and dream that I've lived here all along. But I leave. Maybe my travel funds ran out or the citizens start moving away. I try to follow them but I end up back on the dirt path. An endless path. No conclusion. No final destination. No family or home to be greeted by at the end. I walk. And walk. And walk on this road. Even if I run out of water I still walk. If it gets cold, I walk. If I, ever so rarely, get sleepy, I still walk. The oddest part is. I forgot how I started this path in the first place.
