This Love Will Never Die
Did you let go of my hand; perhaps you did;
But darling I’ll never give up on that love.
Though I may be alone;
Inside in my heart I will be carrying my love for you.
I won’t nor can I ever let it go;
And the world may end up besting me;
But no one will take my love for you from me.
It leads me on through my night and my days.
I offer it up to you as a beacon if you are lost;
A part of you is within me; feel it; lean on it.
You may depend on that love if you so desire;
I am but a cup to drink from when you thirst
That me that bleeds from the heart;
Wishes for forgiveness for mistakes made.
But forgiveness seems buried too deep in the past;
And in that other life perhaps my pardon may be forth coming.
It is there I hope to one day meet up again;
It is there you may see my love never died;
And though time and the heavy load may have bent my back;
It will have carried me on; and I will have forgotten being alone
