Those who have no gift for poetry Ought, perhaps, to learn to ski, Or maybe take up a gentler hobby For poetry requires much creativity With considerable language facility, Every poetic effort tests one’s ability. If you don’t think so, take it from me For I’ve spent years hoping to be A master of this craft called poetry, Realizing it takes a lot of mastery, Someday I hope to claim a victory With a poem making literary history!

When I first tried rhyming verse, I failed but my ski-ing was worse, My family would shout, Get your thesaurus out, Or we’re gonna get you a hearse…… so, do I pass?
