Been there, done that (well, I never changed her depends, that was my sister's job!) but I relate with the circle of life theme. I always say to myself "she is SO worth this". Thanks for the reminder, Jan and congrats on your placement. Hugs ~ John

It is sad to see her deteriorating especially with her short term memory but I do memory games with her every time I visit to try and keep her brain active:-) hugs Jan xx

it's so sad, Jan. I dread this happening to my mom. Maybe it won't. She is still very independent for age 86.

I was proud my daughter was there for her mother during her final weeks, but your mother's problems are common and easily changed by changing her diet, but first she needs to dump that cocktail in her bowels and re-charge with fresh bacteria. Aloha! Rico

It's not as simple as that Rico, she has suffered ever since she was told at a very young age that her mother had died - shes had tests, diet changes but nothing has ever worked so we have learned to live with it, but it has got worse over recent years and more often than not I have to help her when I go to the care home to see her - one look at me and she poops lol:-) hugs Jan xx

I know your Mum appreciates the good daughter who attends to her many needs. Your love for her is evident, not only in these lines, but also in the words you share with me, privately. You're a sweetheart.

I am closer to her in the last 4 years than ever before Lin i think she now actually appreciates all we do for her and all we did for her in the past that was just taken for granted and without her eyes being blinkered by others who are no longer in our lives - sad but true:-( hugs Jan xx

Touching, Jan! This might be viewed as the 'changing tables turned!' Or perhaps "One Good Turn of the Tables Deserves Another!"... Great entry for the contest. Love t! :) Gershon

Life is like that. I realize, our turn comes to pay back all love n care once we receive, not mere as duty but with earnest love.

Mum has had continence issues for many years but it has got worse over time - I'd rather help with her toileting when i visit her rather than get a member of staff to do it. It really is tough seeing her deteriorate. As for love Tom - I have only felt truly loved since dad died and my sister turned her back on all the family - n contact with me in 4 yrs, none to my knowledge with mum or my aunt in over 2:-( After everything my parents have given her all I feel for her is pity. Hugs janxx
