Things

He was enamored by the way of things, the color, the shape, the sound and all that his senses could take in whether the thing was large or small or in-between or was superior in the hierarchical order of things. A raindrop clinging to a leaf bloated with sunlight and about to fall, the taste of celery, cold and sprinkled with a little salt, all manner found a way into his world where they were given space to be, some catching a glint of light from places too subtle to find voice within the limits of a word, but only in things made into something more, silhouettes of symbol, simile and metaphor.

I love your spotlight landing on random things in the character's day, the raindrop, the celery. The raindrop bloated with sunlight and about to fall is my favourite phrase - I can see it, and the pleasure of describing it. Also the ending with the silhouettes is lovely, capturing that connection between reality words, and associations. To me this is an invitation to poetry. Fave. J :)

You pay attention to details, Paul and that's the mark of a sage poet. Too often the beauty of little things is ignored, and therein lies the pity of a world in a rush. In your poetry, you never take things for granted, and you allow your readers to have a glimpse of them, too. Thank you.

You give me honor with your most generous words Lin...thankyou sincerely. Such strengthens a sometimes waning confidence that my poetry has something to offer. Sincerely value your support dear friend.
