<They’re hiding
somewhere...
in the dark recesses of my mind
in the very walls of my heart
they are there
hiding…

those very words
that will catapult me
over and above the bar
of Mediocrity
and into the Sublime
that wonderful concoction of words
that will intoxicate the mind
that will be repeated one day
and be committed to memory
and breathed out in awe

But…….
I can’t find them
the echoes of their hushed whispers
call out to me
begging me…
to keep searching
until I find
the words

those very words….
that will make me
Immortal!>

Eileen Manassian Ghali

This was one of my earliest writes. It got sixty views...and one comment from Carol Sunshine Brown...Bless her heart. I wonder...will it do better now or is it really not that good a poem...Only time will tell! ;)

Above your name up there is a tweet button. I pressed that yesterday, as indicated, and since then your read numbers are nearly 200 (197, just now). I didn't look at the numbers before I tweeted, but I hope these numbers have something to do with me. Enjoy the day.

I know that there are words in my body consciousness that exist to speak the past and to exhalt the future; sometimes it feels like they play "hide & seek" with me. Words are truly life makers. Your write reminds me of these realities Eileen. I wonder what ypur special words are, poetry hatching into immortality. J.A.B.

Wishing to become immortal is the first step to immortality! Your desire to use those words slumbering in the depths of your soul will bring them to the surface of your conscious very soon for they are there, as you say! Be patient dear Eileen, as the green orange that waits for the time its final color to achieve! A poet's burning desire your poem is waiting to burst into the flames of creative verse!

Wake them up, Demetri...they are slumbering too long! ;) Patience has never been my strong point, but I will try, my dear. I can't wait to feel the flames. Thanks for your lovely visit. Much appreciated. Filakia....

Hi Eileen: iI can certainly relate. You are always on the verge of expressing something deep but you hit a road block. (figuratively speaking). But at least you could express what you can't express (ha ha) Good Write. The oldies are the goodies

I think all artists feel this way [and poetry is an art ;)] That constant revisiting of a line or a phrase though I believe must be instilled at a very early age. The lines my mother gave me she recited to me between birth & five years old, by the time my sister was born she had no more poetry in her. Your Verse above would present better with a different page layout. TRy centering it & giving a line break after HIDING/BUT/& WORDS

Oh....now? I thought you were on that list ages ago, Richard! ;) No....you have a book out, my dear. It will never be lost....and those who love and admire your work...always will...while they draw breath...and then, they pass it on to the next generation...as I have done. So...keep writing!

It is beyond good and I add my name to your list of admirers. I can however relate to the lost verses, I sometimes wonder if all that I have written will one day be lost yet I am powerless but to continue to write.
