These Better Poems

I have been writing poetry since I was seven or eight Sometimes I wrote poetry under the covers, up very late, I have been told many of my poems had no time or date I wrote of happy times, sad times, I wrestled with hate, Making words and phrases rhyme together was my fate. Over the years I have written a few that were first rate But, if you want to read my best, you'll just have to wait, I will leave my best poems behind when I close the gate Leaving the best for last has always been a habitual trait, When you read these better poems, I hope you celebrate.

Oh, dear Andrea, I don't know about that, but I do love reading and writing poetry. They just seem to come to me out of the blue.

Aw, Tom, I don't think it will be thattttt long! When you turn eighty, you really begin to think that life is so much shorter than you thought it might be. On the other hand, it seems like I've been around forever!

wow this is excellent, the flow and rhyme is superb Milton, I have only been writing since 2013 learned an awful lot since and joined soup and have found an aptitude for writing silly poopy poems which many seem to enjoy but I do write the odd decent serious one too:-) hugs Jan xx

You do indeed, Jan. I have read some more than "decent serious ones" you've written. I find your work especially entertaining, and I love your poop poems, too.

You betcha', P.S. The longer I work at it (and it has been a lifetime) the better I hope I'll get. The best should be near the end, a goal I'll never regret! How's that?
