            the world is bleeding

             guess it always was
that’s not to say it’s pouring
             or i know the cause
can barely see my own wounds
with eyes that are wrapped in gauze

So much intrique in few words as usual you deliver brilliance Makes me ponder on what life has to offer after all We are lucky to have lived and loved The longer we live the clearer we see the world for what it truly is the only thing that changes are the scenarios but the same theme I'm grateful for freedom's ring! Hell Yeah! Cheers for beer! who drinks ale anyway lol! Thanks so much Anaya, the world is a big bloody mess, once we become aware of the bigger picture, we are so lucky to be living in relatively peaceful countries, not perfect but could be so much worse, I am delighted with your fave and comment, cheers David

Thanks Andrea, I also think the shorter ones can pack a punch, even if only glancing blow, cheers David

Such atrocities are taking place worldwide and no gauze could ever blind us to what we see. The skies seem filled with sanguine clouds ready to spill tears as though they are droplets of blood. Open wounds are festering. David, I’m looking out the hospital window while it’s raining and thinking, “If only rain could wash mankind’s sins away “

I understand Lin, and perhaps that gauze is my way of saying I am exasperated and desensitised by what I see, I honestly do know what is going on right now, and what went on throughout human history; Still it gives me hope to hear you are by your sisters side, and I hope she’s improving even if ever so slightly, thanks so much for taking a little time out to comment on this troubling piece, wishing you all the best, cheers David

A tanka that speaks volumes dear david, so deeply emotive and soul hitting. I feel the same that the world has always been the same but sometimes in the midst of our own wounds bleeding and not realising the depth of what’s hurting within, we often forget or not see how the whole world too is bleeding. I felt it deeply as i read “can barely see my own wounds” its impressive always how one can express so much in few syllables in such a way that readers are left feeling all the emotions delivered in brevity, sending you light always. Best wishes.

Heya Ink, you read my tanka very well, it is extremely difficult to know what other people are feeling/bleeding when sometimes we can’t see past our own wounds, judging by history I believe this human world was always the same, and I can’t actually see how it’s worse now than then, I’m just being honest to myself here, as I have no solution, no point in deluding myself by saying I have; Thanks so much for peering deeply into this piece, and for leaving some light, cheers David
