The Wolf
The wind had shape;
it hunted, it sought bones
for fangs.
At last after the winter hike
the cabin.
We shook off a killing chill,
sat by the fire
letting blood come back
to our speech.
No one mentioned the wolf
inside the icy air;
how that air howled.
