The Weight of Sadness
the weight of sadness grows heavy
collapsing the heart's domain
to struggle, to bleed
to hold the point of pain
watching each dark drip fall into the abyss
where the mind gasps for breath
feeling its burden suffocate
the allotted time for denial,
bewildered by happenstance
trapped by an illusion of what cannot be
searching this mire of fog
spinning in an unusual universe
where sanity is a lighted thread on the horizon
that can't be reached
crawling through the muck of lost reason
where ripples circle the cold flesh of doubt
from the salted tears of purpose
that was drained from the eyes of pain
leaving a hollow orb, that's now blind
to the deep well of depression
