The Wearing of the Green

Green grasses of the springtime Perfume the warming air. Apple and flowering cherry trees Have donned their fresh new wear. The blades of spring are spreading Far across the valley land When spring is in its infancy Drab colors have been banned. St Patrick’s Day is nearing. Mark the date, March seventeen, And everyone is Irish With the wearing of the green.. February 26, 13

I've not a drop of Irish blood, Joyce, but always honor St. Patrick by wearing green on his day. Lovely poem, dear. There were some wonderful entries in this category. Congratulations on your second-place win! Best wishes, Carolyn
