The Warrior's Tale
Running
I’ve spent so long running
Fighting and killing
Hardening and solidifying
Now I shed my armor
And embrace the peace I’ve earned
Trade battle fields for rolling hills
If only for one night
Lay in the grass of the home I never see
And stop the world in these moments
Lay my head down with the setting sun
And thank the stars for the silence they bring
They twinkle new stories I’ve never heard
I’ve never had time to listen
If only for one night
They have my attention alone
I smile with them
Exhaling and letting go
Breathing
