a mane shake might shift perspective create an illusion of ~ precarious balance as flickers of the same construct momentarily separate into entities of their own it's possible to feel everything at once the elasticity of self never breaking but the held tongue the averted eye ~ strained muscles tighten create perceived shoulder weight tendons feel the threat of un-progressive overload... until everything screams for release to burst free from standing disregarding risk of injury and return to square one the fear of enforced rest this horse needs to be broken ~ give it time ~ meanwhile ~ eyes might give away resentment at the intent to make every part of them fit into a straight-sided fenced enclosure colour and distraction allocated on a permission system built on the preconceived idea of knowing best how other species should spend their lives until they buck with explosive energy that no shade of blue warned you about

So much wisdom flowing throughout your well woven lines here and what a deep artwork youv written for too here! You are right when one suppresses theres alot of weight we carry that would weigh us down, hence why its important to cry sometimes and express, and through poetry and other forms we do that sometimes. I felt the lines “ it's possible to feel everything at once the elasticity of self never breaking” so much depth and truth! Absolutely loved this! Congrats on your top win! Well deserved

Thank you Ink! I was delighted with this placement as I'm not always sure whether I've gone too far out. I loved writing this and the painting is so powerful! Thank you for your encouragement x

It's a beautiful painting of horses. The artist must have loved them. Your poem illicits the strength of horses, as well as their independence. How I miss having a horse.

At first your interpretation of this painting comes across as a sculpture, with the muscles tightening and tendons feeling the threat of un-progressive overload, that is until you incorporate colour, and the true majesty of what you describe becomes apparent, those creatures are poised to buck and explode, A supercharged ekphrasis full of latent horsepower, cheers David

Haha thanks David - low level gym knowledge might start sneaking into my poems now. I actually need to build in those explosive functional exercises but feel too self conscious. Thanks for your engaged fun review :)
