The Time Between the Seasons

When you turn the page from summer to fall, you’re likely to think no time’s passing at all; the problem is most folks can hardly recall the time between the seasons. And when you transition from winter to spring; you don’t miss a step, or notice a thing. Those nondescript days that life so often brings: the time between the seasons. When we think of seasons, our time is too coarse; we’re racing through days like a runaway horse. Sometimes, we must slow down and not try to force the time between the seasons. With Thanksgiving, Christmas, the Fourth of July, we’re planning ahead, and yet we wonder why there’s gaps in our memory and time seems to fly: the time between the seasons. Just wake up and relish what this day extends; spend the day feasting with family and friends, and you will have found the life that God intends: the time between the seasons. ---------- for the Time Between The Seasons Poetry Contest sponsored by Kim Rodrigues written on 07/07/2022

Jeff, wise words in a beautifully written poem. Congratulations on your win! The underlying theme so reminds me of the scripture "You know not the day nor the hour." Blessings of every season to you!

I loved your message, Jeff, & Sometimes, we must slow down and not try to force the time between the seasons & the mention of the holidays. We too often let things pass us by! Congratulations on your placement! Glad you entered!

Interesting reflections, Jeff... I agree with you. Too often our focus is on what's coming up instead of staying in the present. Too much looking ahead - and we're sure to miss the time between the seasons. G.L. in the contest! :) gw

Dear Jeff, I admire your use of the title throughout your reflective poem. The emotions captured in each stanza are so beautifully framed by the refrain. An expressive and thought provoking piece. Best wishes for a win and warmest wishes for you.. ~Susan

I think I probably blew it because I misunderstood, as well. I may need to withdraw mine and start all over.

Thanks, I misread that we were supposed to use that as the refrain, realized later it just said ‘a refrain’, but I was already on a roll…

How perfectly 'perfect'...a fav for me! Good luck in the contest....I think it is quite a challenging one; although, it seems to slip off the tip of your tongue. :)Paulette
