IF I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain; If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin Unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain. ~ Emily Dickinson
During the Spring of my life
I didn’t encounter too much strife
My heart was young, my soul alive
Feelings warm, my hope did thrive
During the Summer, there came hurt
Worries arose, darkness would pervert
My heartfelt dreams, all the joy within
Doubts would cause deep fear to begin
During the Autumn of my time
Life would sparkle with a rhyme
While shadows of trouble remained
My soul, sweet grace sustained
During the Winter, breathless ending
I found that sweet love was depending
On the joy, the faith, the wonder, grace
Lifting the dark with its beautiful embrace
Refrain:
Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter
All the seasons bringing slivers, a splinter
Flecks of glittering promise, pining
From the melody of life’s song, designing
Times of heartfelt pleasure, true elation
In a life so alive it delights in all creation
