world war 2 is my sisters subject, well at history gcse and because of this I dont know much, but I do like the very simplicity of your poem, I do like modernism, the era around world war 1, there were some brilliant poems, fantastic, you have got me thinking

Thank you. I wrote it out and realized - this is enough. It says exactly what I wanted to say.

i almost bought a rug years ago until i realized it was bordered with little swastikas. the salesman tried to convince me that the symbol wasn't meant in a negative way but i'd bet that rug is still sitting in the store...

The swastika was not always an evil symbol. It was found way back in some Indian tribes and other cultures. I wish I knew what it used to mean.

Once attached to horror, no one wanted to see it ever again.

I do believe that is right.

Caren, it's a symbol to Never Forget to me. There's plenty of hate in our world wearing disguises of humanism and no swastikas. That's so frightening to me. And the people posing as caring are truly vicious and destructive. Panagiota

I am afraid of that symbol now, for I can never forget the way it was used in the 40's, even though I was not yet born then.
