The Substitute Teacher
Tension from every corner of the room.
No one moved.
The gunman and the substitute teacher locked eyes.
She started laughing hysterically.
Not understanding why, hating herself for it.
Terrified because her traitorous body was laughing.
She dared not look at the other children in the room.
He showed her an expression she had never
seen before or since. She had no idea what
he was going to do. Being a sub, she did not know
him or any of them really.
She shut her eyes, waiting for the kill shot.
When she opened them, he was handing her
the gun.
Definitely a God moment as she had no
Idea why she did what she did.
