The Stranger
The Stranger.
Walking into our lounge last night,
A stranger gave me such a fright.
Wizened and portly, rheumy eyed,
White on top and waist so wide.
We just stared for a moment or two,
Wondering what the other would do.
'twas the blink of an eye as I realised.
Myself in the mirror I had espied.
Am I that old? I asked myself,
Is this the person that others see?
Well, I guess it is, so that is that,
A bit overweight but I can sort that.
The rest is just age that I cannot prevent,
I'm healthy and happy, with that I'm content.
But that mirror I will have to replace.
My minds eye sees a much younger face.
