The Story of Dad's Big Tree

I recall dad's tree
to be specific the one for Christmas
it was all up to me and dad
I can still hear my mom
get me a nice tree this year with no gapping holes
a big tree not some pathetic tree like last year
so off we went singing Christmas songs
no problem said dad smiling !

and snowflakes were falling all filigree

             at the Christmas tree lot
dad asked the man for the biggest tree
it was so tall and though bound up
        it looked really, really big
at home we had a problem getting it inside the door
so dad had to cut off a bit so it would fit into our house
when we finally got it in
it had huge holes everywhere !

and my happiness sailed across the sky

I looked at dad questioning his choice
no problem he said to me
        decorations will hide the flaws
so we put on the lights and all the decorations and tinsel
and called in mom for a viewing and she yelled
      the top was gone !

where am I suppose to put my angel
