The Sound of Your Name

What is more beautiful than the sound of your name? You're pleased to hear it called You're excited to see it in print You're thrilled to see it in lights You're disappointed when teachers don't know it You're crushed when the boss doesn't remember it You burst into tears when even your friends forget it When meeting others, remember how you feel about your name ~ Nothing's more beautiful to them either than the sound of their names

WoW!Gershon, I agree with this well written poem. A name is very important. It's not a good feeling when someone doesn't remember your name. But it happens all the time. I heard the saying once " It aint what that call you it's what you answer to" I remembered that saying until this very day. Excellent job. I'm with Line, I'm going to fav this:-)Alexis

This is so true; the substitute teachers are always horrified when they go school to school and when they come back after not seeing 400 children for a week or two, the children all begin yelling "What is my name?" It is SO important. An important lesson here, Gershon.

That's right. If you can remember people's names, that well over 50% of the 'battle.' Thanks for recognizing that great truth, Caren, and for your support! :) gw

Ooooh. Thank you, Line! I'll accept your word that this poem was crafted, but it sure felt as if it just spilled out of me, as I am a fervent believer in and practitioner of calling everyone by his/her name. (And I really mean everyone). I see how important it is to people. (My ex-wife, amazingly enough, convinced me of it). :) gw
