An angst poem from 1976!

In the social life there are No rules of thumb You simply must be born to be Quite suddenly dropped Down To the side To be visibly forgotten Before you're ever noticed. And if you cut yourself On the broken glass of their laughter Remember this: it's just a laugh, Then look back and bid them all adieu. Cry out and laugh at all the pain And though it sometimes creeps up fast, Never mind The rain The rain The rain.

Hi William. A delightful piece indeed...it can rhyme with a cup of coffee in a spring morning! Congrats for having your verse featured in the Poetry Soup home page! ;-)
