The Small Things
It was the small things
that left us indifference
to change tiny spots
on a ladybugs back
the transparent silky dust
on a butterflies wing
we'd forgotten how
simple it all were
the warm breeze blowing
leaves about giant maple trees
it was the sprinkling raindrops
way before the storm
it was the ripples of salty waves
crashes among the shores
the empty smiles on old men
faces playing chess the casual
goodbyes at the train station
