The Sleep That Comes
The aging must take sleep that comes,
Though nuisance from our point of view,
Our dreams can be quite crazy too,
And pulse can beat in ears like drums!
In life, I've learned to go with flow,
Now sleep for eight hours seems like dream,
But foolishness to fret and scheme,
And this seems sure; it’s what I know.
If sleep seems weak, define your night
Sometimes we need, though there are fears
To make silk purses of pig's ears,
For me, eight hours in bed seems right.
A daytime nap can help you too
Learn wisdom from an infant's page,
Old dog, new tricks, advice of sage,
New habits can change point of view!
Give body time for dreams release,
Resist life's tides? It's hard to win,
Good fighter's know they have glass chin,
Such knowledge leads to new found peace.
