Obituary of Virginia Hopkins

Virginia Lea Hopkins born on June 24th 1951, in Muscatine Iowa , passed away Sunday, May 1st 2016 at Trinity-Rock Island Hospital.

Virginia Lea Hopkins who is in full faith and fellowship with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been called to return home. Virginia was Sealed for time and all eternity to Russell Lee Hopkins 46 years ago, preparing the way for their three children Ginger, Jason, and Misty and their fourteen grandchildren Austin, Serene, Pace, Talon, Traeana, Taylor, Chase, Savannah, Jacob, Gillian, Jeremiah, Ashlea, Brooke, and Sydnea, and their two great grandchildren Ryder and Hudson. She made the choice daily to lead a life filled with happiness and joy which she shared with others through her service due to her faith and obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Virginias loving words to her husband:

Russ Hopkins You are my best friend, my husband, my hero and the love of my life. I am so grateful you helped create and raise our Three amazing children: Ginger Hawkins, Jason Hopkins and Misty Ruppert. I have never once regretted our marriage to each other. 46 years seems like a life time ago, yet it has gone so fast. It was love at first site for me. We are far from perfect, but we are perfect for each other. I love you with all of my heart and I always will. I look forward to Eternity together. Happy Anniversary my Dear. Thanks again Kathy Hingst and Bill Hingst for introducing us.

Virginia’s eternal love extends to her dear friends.

The silver ring Virginia gave to me has been in my possession many years. And though it's only costume jewelry, how beautiful to me it still appears! The first time I saw shining on her hand the silver ring Virginia gave to me, I was amazed. I said I loved it, and she parted with it so unselfishly! So pretty is its pattern - filigree. She took it off her hand, and it became the silver ring Virginia gave to me, its stone of azure blue bright as a flame! This year I learned Virginia passed away. To think in nearly half a century I'd seen her not, yet kept until this day the silver ring Virginia gave to me. Written Nov. 3, 2016 , For Broken Wing's Old Jewelry or Just Old Things or Old, Old Poems Contest (Virginia was a few years older than me when i saw this ring on her finger during church youth group. I was maybe 13 years old and was so surprised when she just took it off her finger and let me have the pretty treasure! I heard she lived a very good life. I never saw her again after I left for college.)

I had to red this again Andrea. She seems like such a lovely person. My heart goes out to you in your loss. I found the tribute we talked about to my friend Alice Cadieux and posted it for you. Hope it gives you a smile and helps you remember good times with your own friend. God Bless, JB

Isn't it a great example of selfless love. She gave the ring with no strings and you accepted and didn't feel the pull of any strings, a beautiful gift of friendship. Heart touching story, Andrea.

Freddie, I actually did not know her very well. She was an older kid in high school when I was starting junior high. But we all looked up to her!
