The Ship of Love
Decided to return to my more sensitive writings
To get back to where I first started
Expressing the thoughts of my true inner soul
Humour and I briefly will be parted
Amazed I've been to go back and rediscover
What inspired me back then as it did
Detached as if someone else was the author
Into a strange familiarity, I slid
I'm still the same person, just a little older
With the same outlook, I strive
Still overjoyed to be alive and still breathing
A love of life is how I survive
This beautiful vista lasts a very short time
Before we know it, the trumpet blows
Calling us up yonder to that great paradise
Wish it could last, what a show
To be alive, to know the feeling of love
Nothing ever approaches the joy
Knowing it's returned without reservation
There's no greater reason to rejoice
Years move on relentlessly but what never fades
A lasting joy for this very short trip
Honored for this happiness I've been granted
Sailing away on life's love ship!!!
Dedicated to Laura with love!
