The Seedlings

I planted a variety of seeds tending them with love. each day I protected them and soon put them in the garden- but the squirrels loved them too, I guess they thought, WOW- a salad ! ___________________________ May 22, 2020 Poetry/Sijo/The Seedlings Copyright Protected, 20- 1254-134-03 All Rights Reserved, 2020, Constance La France Written for the contest, Let Your Pens Flow - Sijo sponsor, Jenish Somadas Third Place

The world is filled with creatures who make a feast of love! One of my late wife's favourite photos is of squirrels feasting on all the beautiful blooming flowers in her garden! Aloha! Rico

Rico, yes squirrels have no respect on what we love, they actually ate my patio table and chairs, well not entirely just hunks using it to line their nests I suspect, poor things though the winters here are so brutal, thanks for visiting my poem _Constance

I like it that you share with the squirrels Dear Heart. I would love to know what colors you have for them. Our squirrels are a deep brown but glow orange in the sun. They have stolen all of the birdseed yet again this week. Thank you for writing this one!

Caren, thanks for visiting, we have a variety of colors, but all have these beautiful fluffy twitching tails, and cute faces, yes they are little thieves coming in the early morning to search and destroy, what is delightful is when they bring the babies _Constance

I love your clever sijo, Constance...my son made a birdfeeder in hopes of seeing lots of birds in the yard, but he was more excited about the feasting squirrels. Best o luck in the contest! xx Rhonda
