The Sea Remains
The long thin horizon of the sea changes colors
as the day moves through time
to lead me between the light and dark
where silence dwells
In her vastness, my senses become lost
in the mystery of each dark shadow
that moves beneath its surface
I welcome the gliding birds crying out in laughter
as rainbows bend in illusion across the horizon
to leave an invitation for my soul to wander
The cool wet sand under my feet lifts me
to glide upon the softest plane
into a realm of quiet peaceful beauty
where my mind empties and breaks free
of its self-imposed bonds
The soft undulation of each current wells up
to curl at my feet leaving a sense of eternal bliss
I may only visit
At the sea my thoughts become untied
to free my yearning spirit
so I may draw strength from its ebb and flow
and cause me to stay and cross into twilight
where a falling star appears and beckons me
on a wondrous journey of starlight
that leaves a trail across the night sky
as though a match was struck
before vanishing into the darkness
It's where my mind weaves a secret from moonlight
that drips upon the surface of the sea
like a floating crown of crusted jewels
welcoming this lonely traveler
who is a mere shadow passing through time
while the sea remains
