The River's Voice
The river’s voice may speak to some
In different ways it becomes
A roaring howl or just a hum
Words of comfort to the lonesome
Across the miles from which they come
To escape and not to succumb
The false things that seem so handsome
Could it be that others are numb
To nature’s beauty, they are glum
When the river is the outcome
Moving change above the bottom
With a language that is random
Heard by those the river welcomes
