“For there to be betrayal, there would have to have been trust first.” Suzanne Collins
Author's Note: This story is real and horrific; all could've been prevented had the bus driver followed procedure and searched the bus (the contest prompt)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In Ayotzinape, Mexico, 43 students disappeared that hot September day. Having commandeered a school bus, to the nation’s capital they made their way. Cartel’s drugs hidden aboard, unbeknownst to the driver much to his dismay. For days police searched for missing students while parents did in earnest, pray. In clandestine graves, 27 tortured and buried; 16 kept in caves after their slay. Failure to search the bus, driver committed suicide, for community he did betray.
Excellent Monorhyme poem, Sara. Great entry for the contest! Good luck! A tragedy caused by bypassing the rule. Needless loss and pain. Bill
A horror narrative. Pity it's real. Incredible that there are always evil persons around. You did right to bring it to our notice. Blessings.
thanks for visiting, Victor, and for sharing your thoughts. I was hesitant to post the poem because posting something horrible or negative runs counter to who I am...but I felt it was something that needed to be shared. Thanks for your support. Have a pleasant day, Sara
These horrific stories are all-too-common these days. A gut-wrencher. ~ Gershon
Tragic. The reason and proof there is a hell.
Heartbreaking, such unimaginable pain for those poor families. A prayer for them all. I’m so surprised I was not aware of this story.
