The Power of the Blues
Within the rhythm of the indigo night
there was a railroad melody of love that was ripe.
It was deep and bluesy to survive the light
of day which sought to wash it white
complete of the soul which gave it might
words and music of a people’s plight
that at times was smooth and times contrite
yet gave them power to fight for right.
