The People

One minute all is serene and there is a peace within And suddenly the feeling changes Words are whispered that judge, "they do not matter," she tells herself. "Why do I not know who I am or what I want?"...she says to no-one. "Why did you do this to me?"...she says to noone. The difference in a day can change everything. This is what she tells herself as she holds herself and rocks back and forth. Abandoned. There is no happiness in sight. She is alone. Like the dark wolf, who has no pack to which he belongs. Nothing is promised, but death, she reminds herself. How morbid that she is finally feeling peace. This tragedy called life will not last forever. All of the people inside of me can finally be released. This is the one thing she is happy about.

Oh dear, how desperately sad. So many elements of despair in this utterly despairing poem, eg she holds herself, rocking back and forth. Help and hope must be available to such a soul crying out. Bitingly accurate, but well written.
