I think the patron saints have all been left for dead. The lies have all been said, and payments been arranged. The depositions all went down behind the scenes. The clergy spilled the beans, but somehow the guilty never found Have you heard of Jesus? He was very wise, now he lives up in the sky. sing along, sing in spite of all the pain sing in spite of all of the pain Children start out in the world so full of dreams. Then come the philistines, who run those dreams into the ground. Yes, it’s been confirmed, the patron saints are dead. The church is in the red, and we are all concerned. I can imagine Jesus, with a mighty spell, sending all those guys to hell. sing along, sing in spite of all the pain, sing in spite of all of the pain. The sordid stories that were hidden from us all, except on bathroom stalls, those turned out to be the facts. Children start out in the world so full of trust, their faith was easily crushed, and now we’re filled with a righteous rage. Now we’re living in a new enlightened age - sure that we can be the change. Can we live like Jesus? Can we avoid lies - can we be compassionate and wise? sing along, sing in spite of all the pain sing in spite of all of the pain

Great to see a young person like yourself writing about these abuses, especially with a hymn like formatted refrain, terrible things went on behind all our backs, within the R/C church, and the worse part, which you also allude too, was the payments (hush money) paid out by the hierarchy to some victims, for fear the whole rotten system would implode on itself, which it did! You certainly ask the right questions, the answer is probably up to the individual rather than the organisation, cheers David

The organizations we used to trust - the boy scouts, the church - and others. I don’t understand how the church, in particular, let it go - so now the whole system is in question.

Dear Anais, Your poem tackles difficult themes – hypocrisy, abuse of power, and the erosion of innocence – with raw honesty. It challenges us to confront uncomfortable truths and question the systems we once blindly trusted. The final lines pose crucial questions about living compassionately and avoiding the mistakes of the past. It's a powerful call to create a "new enlightened age," even if the path forward seems daunting. Your poem is a thought-provoking commentary on our times. - Daniel

I went to Catholic Grade school and my left-handedness was not acceptable and my hand was smacked to the point I can only write with my right hand. However, I high-jumped, pole vaulted, and long-jumped, set my start blocks for running to a lefty. My youngest daughter is a lefty. My church I also witnessed first hand abuse. SAD. - Blessings, Daniel

Nice lyrics. Eight million plus JW's in 240 lands show that it is possible to be different, to show love instead of hate, kindness instead of cruelty, acceptance instead of prejudice. I left a church of lies and hypocrisy 40 years ago. Never even imagined going back

Me too. I went to Catholic school. Never any problems that I was aware of. But it goes alot deeper than what's in the news.

I was raised catholic. I was unaware of abuse "issues."
