Author's Notes: "The Oneness of All," is a specialty poem, a Double Dactyl,  that I completed on June 18, 2017. This poetic format seemed to be the right one to use in my effort to highlight this particular theme. I wrote this one as inspired by Hermann Hesse's classical novel of the twentieth century, "Siddhartha," which probes the relationship of the soul beyond the mortal world as it seeks to find and understand the quest for a more profound wisdom through spirituality. I originally read "Siddhartha" many years ago when I was a young college student and was very impressed by its message of enlightenment as the character of the novel, Siddhartha, eventually realizes the "oneness of all" as he embraces the essence of true spirituality. Hesse's classical novel is as relative today, as it was during the twentieth century. It's a timeless write by the nature of its subject and overarching theme. Beyond the boundary of mankind's mortal world lies the ethereal outer dimension of a true cosmic wisdom and spirituality for the soul to embrace. The title itself says a lot and is so inspiring in a world where individuals seem more and more at a lost or on a no through road. I love the story of Siddhartha and enjoyed your write. All the best in life. :) Sunita

I agree w/Arthur. So much delivered in such small alphabetical containers, Gary. A marvelous double dactyl. I have to try my hand at this form. It seems so well-suited for someone w/an above average predilection for history. Great write, very informative. Love and peace, bruh.

This seems different from your usual writes, however, this says so much by saying so little, and is a beauty!

Thanks Arthur!! Glad you liked this one. As I mentioned to Anne-Lise below, I've written a number of these Double Dactyl poems in the past, and they're posted with my other poems in Poetry Soup. The format is actually likened to humorous topics, but I've been able to use their succinct pattern for highlighting famous people, and events and themes associated with them. As I always say, it's all good poetry at the end of the day!! Best Wishes, Gary

I've never really dug in deep to eastern religions but I do get the oneness of all. When I was in china, I got to visit a couple of temples. The monks do not allow photographs of themselves but you can take photos of the huge Budda statues inside. Very interesting write, Gary:)

Hello Danny, Thanks for your note and comment here. (I will drop by your way to check out your latest and greatest writes, which I always enjoy!!) Hesse is one of the German writers that I'm very familiar with from his various famous novels from the past. He was very much steeped in the metaphysical facets of Asian mysticism and spiritualism. Best Always, Gary

I'm sure one would need to have read Siddhartha to really appreciate your poem, which I have not, but, the title alone makes your piece understandable. To that end I enjoyed the read...

Hello Charlie, Thanks very much for your read and comments on my poem here. Hesse was a profound student of Asian mysticism, and, of course, authored a number of other very thought-provoking novels as well. The "DD" format allowed me to get to the essence of Siddhartha in an immediate sense for the reader. These particular writes are always fun to put together, although the "DD" format is traditionally used for more humorous topics. It's all good poetry in the end!! Best Wishes, Gary
