~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ princes and princesses in aprons and suits, pirates on ships in the clouds, half-forgotten hopes and dreams, and a vow of patience— scribbled in a 15-year old’s notebook, in blue felt pen, in joined up handwriting, summed in a phrase ‘Wait for the stars to align.’ when Mars came hard and the moon turned its back, I forgot that notebook, and its plea, when first love found its way through the eye of the storm, and I accepted its course with bitter tack— I no longer cared for that notebook, and its caution when all was in shadow, and love’s bitter fruit wrought its sweet poison, and I was paralyzed by fear of loss and the barren vine. I found a cure in the darkest sea, beyond despair, beyond hope of a promise made long ago. in a young girl's notebook written in blue felt pen in joined up handwriting ‘wait for the stars to align.’ And I did.
To everything, there is a season. So beautiful and inspiring, like the shadow on the heart who holds love beyond all knowing, love that keeps unfolding, love that silences the worries, love - an abundance of joy. I love this so. beautiful and breathtaking, a light from your brilliant pen. Love to you and blessings too, Gina
I enjoyed your inspirational and 'poetic' comments, Gina. The phrase, "to everything there is a season" is one of my favorites so thank you for sharing it here today. I'm delighted you liked my poem...means a great deal to me. Thanks for visiting...have a blessed evening, Sara
Amazing to me. I kept my thoughts all bottled up until my mid-20's. ~ Mr. Poker Face
thanks for visiting and for sharing your personal experience, Mr. Poker Face. My older brother is still that way...and he's 78. Sometimes he finds what I say and do frivolous and annoying. Although brother and sister, we're vastly different. I ramble. Sorry. Have a great day ahead, Sara
Patience and waiting for the right moment for things to fall into place while you navigate through love, loss, and hope, and how they turn to the advice written in a 15-year-old's notebook as a source of guidance is so inspiring, dear Sara. Your diction is evocative and reflective, creating a sense of nostalgia and introspection. The use of phrases like "princes and princesses," "pirates on ships in the clouds," and "bitter fruit" evoke a fairytale-like atmosphere.
It was such a book that started me writing poetry. Like the love poems your husband would write. Today I saw the woman I direct my poetry to. She's been sick and I've been worried. One day I'll give her what I've been writing of her. And I am sure you will understand.
what touching comments! Thanks for referencing my husband. That's kind. Sorry to hear about the sickness to which you refer. I would encourage you to give her what you've been writing of her...that would have such healing power (I think)...your choice...one has to do what one's heart tells them to do. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your week ahead, Sara
So sweet and nostalgic. It seems the young girl never entirely left. This is a memorable piece of poetic art.
Thats a nostalgic and sentimental start to your poem, one that you have written with emotions that bring back a flood of memories, do you ever wonder all that you have lost or forgotten, and sometimes we get timely reminders of them? When I was 19, a jealous female friend burned all my journals... not nice, right? I never wrote a journal again, as I felt some of my best writing was lost forever and lost it remains... Really loved this one dear Sara..A Fave for me..
Your comments deeply touched me. What a horrible experience when you were 19. I can understand the vulnerability you felt afterwards and the need to never write in a journal again. To answer your question, yes, I sometimes feel I've lost or forgotten some memories...then out of nowhere that timely reminder comes....it's as if it's all out there somewhere...a mystery to me. Thank you for the Fave! Means more to me than I have the words or space to communicate...Sara
Beautiful Sara, your artistic talent never ceases to touch my heart and enchant my soul in so many ways.. When the shattered ruins of first love whirl in a raging ambience and create a stormy atmosphere in our lives, we become apathetic towards our own essence and tend to drown in dark oceans of disbelief where faith doesn't exist.. It's through soul searching, that we gather our magical stardust back, in those pages, written by our innocence.. I could connect deeply with your words dear poetess
Awwn you are most welcome dear Sara, your poem really had an impact on me today as all I've seen in my life yet, are thunderstorms and grievances.. I'm still very much emotional reading this poem, diving in the nostalgia of those times, sigh. Thank you so much for sharing this gem of a poem today. I honestly LOVE IT and have saved in my FAVs ~ sending hugs and light!!
thanks for visiting and for sharing your personal experiences (below). You're so right--losing one's essence is gut-wrenching...the road back is long. I'm grateful poetry was your way back. Poetry has been that for me as well as writing memoirs. Through words, soul searching occurs and, as you so beautifully said, we gather our magical stardust back." I love that poetic comment! hugs, Sara
I agree with Rose, this poem deserves all the roses and accolades.. It made me quite emotional too, as your lines pulled my gloomy heartstrings as I myself have been on that path where I thought I've lost my essence.. But poetry found me back, I think. What a beautifully soul-warming post today by you! Absolutely love this ~
