In the big city we are not able to see the stars as we used to as kids, too many city lights. Thanks for bringing back those memories, Tom. Congrats on your win. John

When four lines rhyme, you've cracked it Tom, a winner for sure. Point of interest: meteorites v's meteors ;-)

Thanks Mick, before they enter our atmosphere they are chunks of rock and dust called meteoroids', then when they come through they're meteors with a visible streak also called shooting stars, when they make impact they're meteorites. But many refer to them as meteorites'. Next big shower due in July, the delta aquariids Tom

I was born in the mid-forties in a small village up the mountains and there was no electricity and no pollution so I could observe the magic of the starry sky you so poetically describe here my friend, Tom!

Thank you Demetrios, like Paul you were lucky to see the night sky how it should be seen, I used to go to Ireland when I was younger and like you there was no lighting back then and I'd go out and just look up diamonds on black velvet amazing, then bed by candlelight,I'll never forget those days. But progress came and with it light pollution that sadly seems to be getting worse. Tom

A lovely rhyming write, Tom. Like you, I am fascinated by the night sky, especially when it's clear. Sleeping on the threshing floor on my granddad's farm was such a pleasure! Regards // paul
