The Never Echo
I lived, but I was never born,4
A thousand thorns my heart has bled,
For that I’ve lost, I learned to mourn.
I died, but I was never dead.
I stayed, but I was never here,
I’d fade away at every dawn.
You looked for me when skies turned clear.
I left, but I was never gone.
I fell, but I was never standing.
My shoulders carried words unspoken.
I lost my wings as I was landing,
I broke, but I was never broken.
I dreamed, but I was never sleeping,
The sheep are gone, but I’m still counting.
In oceans made of tears I’m weeping
I swam, but I was always drowning.
